Radio/TV

Jasper High School began a stand-alone Radio and Television program in the fall of 2012. In addition to in-house news and information programs broadcast over intranet, Jasper High School has its own twenty-four hour radio station. The station broadcasts on the campus of Jasper High School on 93.7 FM and 960 AM under FCC Rules Part 15. JHS Radio plays a wide variety of music 24/7 and broadcasts school news from 7:30-8:00 AM EST while school is in session.

While the obvious student activity is providing opportunities to develop skills that will enhance a future career in Radio and Television, these same skills will also enhance success in college and many work environments. Experience in photojouralism, video and sound control, communication skills, public speaking, team-work, planning, editing, and much more are twenty-first century skills sought after by many employers. Small companies may pay to out-source such services. Large companies may have their own advertising departments. Any office environment would benefit from an employee possessing such skill. Movement UP the career ladder is likely.
